Your syllabus lists twelve weeks of topics. It has no midpoint, no low point and no finale.

Without them the middle weeks go flat. The beat sheet says it in one line: «A flat midpoint is where momentum dies.»

What it does

The Save the Cat Beat Sheet asks for eleven beats: Opening Image, Theme Stated, Catalyst, Debate, Break Into Two, Fun & Games, Midpoint, All Is Lost, Dark Night, Finale and Final Image. It scores each out of 10, maps all eleven as a path, flags beats sketched in a line or two and ranks three moves.

Save the Cat Beat Sheet. Snyder’s fifteen beats, mapped week by week to a twelve-week course in Chapter 11: Opening Image, Theme Stated, Set-Up, Catalyst, Debate, Break Into Two, B Story, Fun and Games, Midpoint, Bad Guys Close In, All Is Lost, Dark Night of the Soul, Break Into Three, Finale, Final Image.
